Title: USP Odyssey: Gamification and Exploration for Student Engagement on the University Campus
Abstract: USP Odyssey is a top-down 2D exploration game that uses gamification to help students navigate and connect with the Butantã campus of the University of São Paulo. Developed in Unity, the game presents a stylized representation of the campus, allowing movement on foot, by car, or using the circular bus lines. Progression relies on a collectible system that reveals historical context and curiosities about institutes and landmarks. Inspired by classic exploration games like Pokémon, the design uses different transportation modes as keys to unlock new areas. The architecture employs patterns such as a Finite State Machine and Scriptable Objects to ensure organization and scalability. The prototype demonstrates that a gamified approach can enhance campus discovery and strengthen students’ engagement with their physical environment.
